  交大賴明治教授當選為 Vice President of EASIAM

New EASIAM officers elected

The East Asia Section of SIAM has completed its elections for the next term. The newly-elected officers will serve for a two-year period from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2012.

Professor Hisashi Okamoto has been elected as the new President of East Asia SIAM (EASIAM). He is a professor of mathematics at the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences (RIMS) at Kyoto University in Japan. A member of SIAM USA, Japan SIAM, and the Mathematical Society of Japan, his research interests include mathematical fluid mechanics, numerical methods for fluid computations, and numerical computation of bifurcation and stability.

Professor Ming-Chih Lai of National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan has been elected to the post of Vice President of EASIAM. He is a professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics and also serves as Director of the Center of Mathematical Modeling and Scientific Computing at National Chiao Tung University in Hsinchu, Taiwan. His research interest is in the area of numerical methods for PDEs and computational fluid mechanics.

Shao-Liang Zhang from the Department of Computational Science and Engineering at Nagoya University in Nagoya, Japan, has been appointed the new Secretary of East Asia SIAM. Dr. Zhang's field of study is in the area of fundamental engineering, and has been a member of Japan SIAM and the Information Processing Society of Japan for several years.
